Steps to Setting Up a Store

Anyone who chooses to set up a new online store, whether as a primary source of income or as a side income, must ensure they choose the best platform, otherwise revenues will turn into unnecessary expenses. There are several leading platforms on the market, and there's no doubt that Shopify and Magento are perhaps the most prominent. If you're also deliberating between the two, we've summarized everything you need to know about each of them – their advantages and disadvantages, and which one wins in each category.

Step 1: Shopify Registration

To start using Shopify to build a high-quality online store, you need to be registered for the service. It's a quick and simple process, and once you're registered, you can begin. Navigate to the Shopify homepage and click the green button to start your free trial – Start free trial.

Here you'll need to enter your email address and personal details, and you'll also need to choose a name for your store, which is how you also purchase the domain for your store through Shopify. Now, you'll provide the system with various relevant details and specify that you are only opening an Online Store. A few more personal details and you're done; you're registered, and your store is almost live in its basic form.

Step 2: Adding Products to Your Shopify Store

After registering and setting up your store, the system will automatically take you to the administration screen of your new store's website. Here you can start building and customizing your store and uploading products that your customers can browse and choose from. The system guides you step-by-step through an efficient and intuitive process. The first button will prompt you to add your first product to the store.

Step 3: Customizing Your Shopify Store's Design

Back on the main dashboard, select the "Customize the look of your store" button to begin designing and personalizing your store's appearance. In this area of the software, you define elements such as logos, color schemes, and so on, with many visual details. This step, of course, requires a fair amount of tinkering and making changes and settings, but you should mainly focus on the part that directs you to a link to visit the Shopify theme store.

Fortunately, Shopify offers a huge variety of designed and ready-made themes for online stores, ones that will make your site look wonderful and super polished. There are free themes and premium paid themes; naturally, the premium ones are more advanced and elaborate visually and structurally.
The system includes a Shopify community section, with lots of helpful information regarding customizing and building your store from experienced Shopify professionals.
Although it's a ready-made store theme, you can change and customize a variety of things and settings, for example:
