Steps to setting up a store

Anyone who chooses to set up a new online store, whether as a primary source of income or as a side income, must make sure they choose the best platform, otherwise the income will turn into unnecessary expenses. There are several leading platforms on the market, and there is no doubt that Shopify and Magento are perhaps the most prominent. If you are also debating between the two, we have summarized for you everything you need to know about each of them – their advantages and disadvantages and who takes each category.

Step 1: Sign up for Shopify

To start using Shopify to build a quality online store, you need to be registered for the service. It's a simple and quick process and you're registered and ready to go. Navigate to the Shopify home page and click the green button to start your free trial.

Here you will need to enter an email address and personal details and you will also need to choose a name for your store, this is how you purchase the domain for the store through Shopify. Now you provide the system with all sorts of relevant details and specify that you are only opening an Online Store. More personal details and you are done, you are registered and your store is almost up and running in its basic form.

Step 2: Adding products to your Shopify store

After registering and setting up your store, the system will automatically take you to the administration screen of your new store website. Here you can start building and customizing your store and uploading products for your customers to browse and choose what to buy. The system guides you step by step through an efficient and intuitive process. The first button will ask you to add your first product to the store.

Step 3: Customize your Shopify store design

Back in the main dashboard, select the Customize the look of your store button to begin designing and customizing the look of your store. In this area of the software, you define elements such as logos, color schemes, and so on with lots of visual details. This step probably requires quite a bit of fiddling and making changes and settings, but you should mainly focus on the part that directs you to a link to visit the Shopify template store.

Fortunately, Shopify offers a huge variety of ready-made, designed templates for online stores, ones that will make your website look great and super invested. There are free templates and paid premium templates, of course the premium ones are more advanced and invested visually and in terms of structure.
The system has a Shopify community section, with lots of helpful information about customizing and building your store from experienced Shopify professionals.
Although this is a ready-made store template, you can change and customize a variety of things and settings, for example:
